Cheryl and Mark aren't the only ones among their friends who are getting married this year! On Saturday, 20 January 2001, we went to a shower for Cheryl's co-worker Susan and her husband-to-be, Chris, in Hermosa Beach.
Here they are in the middle of opening the rather large stack of presents that the couple of dozen guests brought. Lots of friends were there to congratulate the soon-to-be newlyweds!
Here is Cheryl with her co-worker Kim and Kim's husband Alani; we had gone to a birthday party for him at their house in Orange County on the previous Saturday, but because Mark's camera had broken we don't have any photos to post. (These photos, actually, were taken with a digital camera that Mark borrowed at his lab; he had purchased a camera to replace the one that quit working in Hawaii, but he managed to break the new one within 24 hours of receiving it! Wotta klutz. Fortunately, his credit card insures him against repair bills.)
Here's a photo Mark has been wanting to post for awhile! Morgan is the person most directly responsible for getting Cheryl and Mark in the same place at the same time; she works with Cheryl, and she's been in the orchestra pit for The Aerospace Players for years, so she invited Cheryl to audition for the club's production of "Oliver!" last year and, well, we took it from there. Thanks very much, Morgan!
