Lura's a little young yet to enjoy opening presents, but she sure likes the bright colors! Here she is on Christmas Eve, propped up on the mantel in her Boppy pillow among all the gifts we received at home, with Cricket keeping her company.
We flew to Hawaii on Christmas Day to spend the holidays with Cheryl's family. It seems that everybody else in Los Angeles thought that Christmas Day would be a quiet day to travel, and were as surprised as we were not to find the airport deserted... Lura did very well on her first airplane flight; of course, she slept a lot of the time, but when she was awake she was pretty happy! The worst was when she got a bit fussy while the seat belt signs were on due to some mild turbulence, but most of the time she could be pacified by walking up the aisle to the galley to make friends with the flight attendants (or by feeding her, naturally!).
Here we are with Lura's grandparents and aunties! This was her first time to meet Auntie Judy, but it had been a few months since she'd seen the rest of the family as well. As you can see, we brought Pinky Bear (a gift from these two aunties) to give her an element of the familiar in these new surroundings.
Everybody had held off opening presents until we got there, so here we are catching up late in the evening!
Of course, plenty of other people wanted to meet Lura too! On 29 December 2003 we took her to meet some of her Grandma's co-workers at the hospital...
...and the next day we went to an engineering firm where Cheryl used to work, to introduce Lura to some old friends there. In these photos Lura looks a bit puzzled, or maybe even concerned, but during most of both visits she was quite happy to meet her many new admirers!
