Right after Christmas Lura's little friend Justin came down from San Jose with his parents to visit relatives here, and they dropped by to see us on December 29th.
Is Justin reading "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?" to Lura here?
The next morning we got up early and drove down to Anaheim, where we joined Lily, Ken, Justin, and Lily's sister Sophia and family for Lura and Justin's first visit to Disneyland! (It was actually much more crowded than it looks in this shot; people were very considerate about not crossing the line of sight until Mark had taken the photo.)
It was Mark's first visit too! Here we are about to embark on the "It's A Small World" boat ride, which was redecorated for Christmas.
Inside, Lura looked around, and pointed, and said "Oooh!" a lot. She looks a little solemn here, but she's just concentrating on something; we all had a great time.
Lura did get a little frightened by the noise and chaotic lights of the "Alice in Wonderland" ride. On the way to that, we stopped at the Mad Hatter Shop to get her a pair of Mickey Mouse ears! The lady who embroidered her name on the back of the hat said that she was using the very same machine that embroidered Cheryl's name on hers when she first visited as a little girl.
It was, for the most part, a beautiful sunny day, so we stopped to put on some sunscreen in Toontown. We had Lura's stroller with us, but she also rode in Mommy's sling quite a bit.
Of course, 'Toons live in Toontown, and we found Mickey at home! He took time out from shooting on the back lot for a photo op with us.
In the early afternoon we took the kids back to Ken, Lily, and Justin's hotel to give them a chance to take a nap, but we got no takers. (Except Mark!) But after returning to Disneyland, exploring some more, and getting dinner, they were becoming weary, and by the time we got in line for the "Pirates of the Caribbean" ride, Lura and Justin were sound asleep. They woke up to see the evening parade and fireworks as we made our way to the exit, after a fun and exciting day for all of us!
