Lura's second birthday (September 3rd) was a Saturday, so the next day we bought flowers for the altar at church in honor of the occasion. We've sponsored the flowers for the church service several times over the years; Expressive Flowers always provides a nice tropical bouquet.
Because of the party the previous day (plus cleanup, a late nap, etc.), Lura didn't get a chance to open all of her presents, so we remedied that on Sunday afternoon. Lura loves looking at cards, whether addressed to her or off the shelf in a Hallmark store; she calls them (little) "books," and of course she loves to read.
She also likes opening presents, of course, and here she enjoys watching Cheryl tease Melody with a ribbon.
The next day was Labor Day, so Mark was off work, and we went to Disneyland! We started off with the "Lilo and Stitch Aloha Breakfast" buffet at the Paradise Pier Hotel; Lura enjoyed meeting the stars of one of her favorite movies, as well as Minnie Mouse (with whom she was a little shy).
She also liked the Mickey Mouse chocolate/raspberry cake that they brought to the birthday girl, and we had a terrible time getting her to leave the bongo drums that Mark found at one of the photo-op "sets" around the restaurant.
Then we went over to Disneyland itself, and Lura had a lot of fun, as always. Here she sits on Daddy's shoulder, mesmerized by the parade.
We ate lunch in Mickey's Toontown, and afterward we introduced her to Goofy.
As always, she loved sitting in the Toontown cars!
And of course she enjoyed the boat ride through "It's A Small World," looking all around her and pointing at the singing children (and animals).
On September 8th, the Mommy & Me playgroup went to the L.A. Zoo. Here Dylan says "hmmm...", Ivy says "whoa," and Lura says "hooray!" as they look up at a giraffe.
