These are some photos of Cheryl & Mark in the first few months we were dating. Of course, we met while doing "Oliver!" with The Aerospace Players; here we are in "civvies" during a rehearsal at The Aerospace Corporation, where Mark works...
...and here we are in full costume and makeup, backstage at the Armstrong Theater! Yes, the beard and other fur (for Mark as Fagin) were itchy!
Even during the show, we did manage to steal some time together, whether at Cheryl's condo (Mark's apartment is, er, a bit cluttered) or out at a restaurant or even another show! Here we are at the Coyote Cantina in Redondo Beach, during the breather between the two weekends of "Oliver!" performances. The sculptures in the niche above us are the "Joe Camel meets the Blues Brothers meets 'Low Rider'" coyote characters who are portrayed (in paintings too) in the joint's decor. Entertaining, and the food was good too (and the company most enjoyable as well!).
Once the show ended, we had more opportunities to spend evenings together; since our first date was on July 4th, we usually try to go to a particularly nice restaurant on our "luniversaries," the fourth of each month. Here we are on 6 September 2000 (Cheryl was not feeling well on the 4th) at Kincaid's, a very high-toned kind of a place at the Redondo Beach pier; we splurged a bit using a gift certificate that had been awarded to Cheryl at work.
At this writing, we've celebrated five "luniversaries"; our next one will find us in Hawaii with Cheryl's family! Stay tuned...
