Silly Cats, Spring 2004

Extra soft toy

Hello, it looks like Lura has acquired an additional soft toy! The cats provide lots of entertainment around the house; Lura loves to watch them, and she'll tentatively reach out to pet them when they come close (of course, we stay pretty close too, to prevent pulled fur!).

ON the arches

The cats, especially Cricket, are big on prepositions; they like to be ON things, as in ON the toy arch...

ON the chair arm

...or ON the chair arm...

UNDER the umbrella

...or UNDER Mark's Bavarian umbrella!

Curled up on chair

Cricket also gets into some odd positions when she sleeps, as here on the towel we placed on one of our chairs to keep it from getting completely covered with cat hair...

Asleep in the sun

...or here in the sun.

To be, or not to be?

She will often "test boundaries" in hopes of getting some leftovers; do I dare make a play for that chicken wing? She doesn't ever actually go for it, at least not when we're watching!

Cats on stairs

Of course, we have two cats, not one; Cheryl had Melody (on the landing in this photo) before she met Mark. Melody tends to hang out upstairs in our bedroom, or on the edges of the downstairs rooms when everybody is down there; Cricket gets right in the big middle of things, which is why you have seen a lot more photos of her on these webpages!

Melody with woven paws

Melody also seems to be more dignified than Cricket, and doesn't arrange herself in comical poses as often. "Not as often" doesn't mean "never," of course!

"Fuhgeddaboudit!"

And of course, though we mostly post cute or pretty photos of Lura, she occasionally gives us a comical one; in this "outtake" from Justin's birthday party, she seems to be auditioning for a part in a Mafia movie! Wassamattayou?!?
